Artist Spotlight: Kelsey Packwood's BORDERLINE
In this special artist spotlight, Dr. Blaise is proud to feature the work of Kelsey Packwood, a visionary Jamaican-American filmmaker who is transforming the landscape of mental health representation while shining a light on her own journey living with Borderline Personality Disorder. Kelsey’s groundbreaking directorial debut, BORDERLINE, offers a rare and deeply authentic look into the lived experience of BPD. Dr. Blaise is currently collaborating with Kelsey to facilitate screenings of the pilot, using the power of storytelling to bridge the gap between clinical understanding and public perception. This partnership aims to dismantle the long-standing stigma surrounding BPD through education and empathy. Stay tuned, as this is only the beginning; Blaise and Kelsey are developing future content designed to provide ongoing insight and support for the BPD community. BORDERLINE is a half-hour "traumedy" series that follows the raw, often humorous, and deeply moving journey of a young woman named Kelsey (played by Packwood) on the very day she receives her BPD diagnosis. Rather than retreating, Kelsey spirals into a desperate attempt to avoid loneliness, spamming her father’s phone and navigating the chaotic, often soul-crushing world of online dating. As the day unfolds, the series captures the intensity of emotional dysregulation and the "quiet" moments of psychosis that define the disorder. By blending personal lived experience with high-fidelity storytelling, the pilot serves as both a compelling narrative and a vital educational tool, offering clinicians, patients, and families a window into a diagnosis that has been historically misunderstood and maligned.
